JFK assassination limousine keys to star at Goldin Auctions

The original keys to the limousine JFK was riding in when he was assassinated will cross the block at Goldin Auctions.

The lot is offered with a minimum bid of $5,000 ahead of a close date of January 30, with TMZ reporting a valuation of up to $50,000.

Keys limo JFK
The keys were acquired by criminal investigator R Steven Turner

They are accompanied by a letter of provenance from former criminal investigator R Steven Turner that reads: "This is an original set of keys to the Presidential limousine (SS-100-X) that President John F Kennedy rode in on November 22, 1963.

"I obtained them from the Secret Service motor pool, while I was a criminal investigator with the Department of Justice."

The keys were last sold at RR Auction in 2013, where they made $31,600.

Other pieces from Kennedy's death car have made headlines recently, with the original licence plates achieving $100,000 at Heritage Auctions last year.

We have this amazing photograph signed by the whole Kennedy family for sale.

Speaking of keys, the one used to unlock Lee Harvey Oswald's cuffs after his arrest for the shooting is also up for auction.

It's expected to make more than $4,000.

Jailer Henry Ellison explains: "I was on duty working as an assistant Jailer of the Service Division of the Dallas Police Department.

"Lee Harvey Oswald was captured at the Texas Theatre, handcuffed and transferred to the Dallas City JailǪ

"I searched him, and unlocked the handcuffs that he had on with this key."
