Michael Jackson items to appear at O2

The site of Michael Jackson's intended This Is It concerts is to hold an exhibition of a variety of items belonging to the late singer, allowing the public to get closer to them than ever before.

Michael Jackson: The Official Exhibition will show 250 items which include his red military jacket and 1967 Rolls Royce Phantom.

A letter written to Jackson by then-US President Ronald Reagan in 1984, wishing him a speedy recovery after the singer's hair was set on fire while filming a Pepsi advert, will also be on show.

"You've gained quite a number of fans along the road since I Want You Back, and Nancy and I are among them," wrote Reagan.

Going back even further, some fans may be particularly interested to see an original Jackson 5 contract.

Unsurprisingly for a Jackson memorabilia show, there will be a number of slightly off the wall items.

These include a carousel horse marked "to MJ from ET" (a gift from Elizabeth Taylor) and an oil painting of the singer dressed in a royal, Henry VIII-esque style and holding a crown, and another in which he is knighted.

One of Jackson's gloves is on display. Another of his iconic gloves sold for $70,800 at auction, recently.

The exhibition will open on Wednesday October 28, and will be the only opportunity to view the memorabilia in the UK before it embarks on a world tour.
