Michael Jackson note pulled from US auction

A note written by Michael Jackson has been pulled from a US auction, at the request of his ex-wife Lisa-Marie Presley.

The letter was due to go on sale as part of the Sports Legends and Music Icons auction to be held on June 23-24. The sale has already attracted press attention this week, with its sale of Elvis Presley's original crypt.

The deeply personal note was written to Lisa-Marie Presley before the couple were married in 1994. It reads: "Lisa I truly need this rest I haven't slept litterally [sic] in 4 days now. I need to be away from phones and business people. I must take care of my health first Im'[sic] crazy for you."

The note is particularly poignant following Jackson's death in 2009, before which he reportedly pleaded with his physician to give him prescriptions drugs to aid his sleep.

Commenting on the note's withdrawal, the auction house's Darren Julien said: "I'm assuming that it's because the note is of a personal nature, and we want to honor the request and continue our good relationship with Ms. Presley."

The same auction house courted further controversy in November 2011, when the headboard from the bed in which Jackson died appeared at another of its auctions. It was subsequently withdrawn at the request of his family.

With Jackson memorabilia being withdrawn from auctions, and ever increasing demand from collectors, quality items relating to the singer are becoming gradually more scarce.

Yet Paul Fraser Collectibles is currently offering a stunning black sequinned top worn by the King of Pop. We also have an authentic strand of the singer's hair, originating from the infamous 1984 Pepsi Commercial.

Our stock items have all been sourced using Paul Fraser's 35 years of industry experience. See our complete range of Michael Jackson memorabilia here.
