James Bond movie posters total $21,500 at Christie's

A collection of rare James Bond movie posters has crossed the block at Christie's Vintage Posters auction in London this afternoon (May 23).

From Russia With Love
The poster for From Russia with Love is widely considered the greatest Bond poster ever made



The sale welcomed both artistic and popular culture posters, with the James Bond examples realising a combined �14,145 ($21,371).

The best seller among the collection was Eric Pulford and Renato Fratini's effort for 1963's From Russia with Love, which is widely considered the best and most iconic Bond poster ever created. It sold for $4,750 ($7,187), just topping its �4,000 low estimate.

Also featuring was a set of five US door panels produced for 1967's Casino Royale, each starring a different Bond girl with the words "Casino Royale is too much for one James Bond" beneath.

The entire set was in A- to B+ condition and not backed, warranting a final price of �3,750 ($5,674).

Following was the Robert Brownjohn poster for 1964's Goldfinger, which sold at �3,000 ($4,539) - a 20% increase on its �2,500 high estimate. Showing the gold-covered Shirley Eaton, the poster was rated A- for condition.

PFC Auctions is currently selling a signed photograph of Daniel Craig as James Bond in Quantum of Solace.
