Muppets Most Wanted piano will auction for charity

A grand piano autographed by 18 celebrities will lead an auction of memorabilia from the recent Muppets Most Wanted movie, which is being held for charity.

The piano has been donated by Yamaha Entertainment Group to benefit the VH1 Save the Music Foundation

The auction coincides with the upcoming home entertainment release of the film in August, with bids accepted through Charitybuzz. The piano, valued at $74,000, will help raise funds for the VH1 Save the Music Foundation, which funds music education programs in US schools.

The Kermit green piano is a player piano, meaning it can record other piano performances and play them back automatically, and comes loaded with seven songs from the film.

It is signed by Ricky Gervais, Josh Groban, Tina Fey, Danny Trejo, Ray Liotta and more, making the piano a truly unique piece of memorabilia from one of the Muppets' most star-studded movies.

With the Muppets universally loved, memorabilia from their films is often met with big bids from collectors. In 2012, Jim Henson's first pitch for the Muppet Show came up for auction with Bonhams, where it sold for $35,000.

In April, the Muppet of pop star Lorde that appeared in Muppets Most Wanted made $3,000 for charity in New Zealand.
