Palitoy Star Wars figurine collection to auction at Vectis

A set of 15 Palitoy Star Wars figurines is to cross the block at Vectis Auctions in Stockton on Tees, UK on February 24.

The individual lots are expected to achieve a total sum of around 28,000-42,000 ($43,141-64,711) according to the Leicester Mercury, a local newspaper.

The collection is among the most extensive ever assembled

Kathy Taylor of Vectis told the publication: "There is always a great deal of anticipation that surrounds these sales.

"We have people in the room, buyers on the internet and callers representing collectors on the end of the phone. It is all very exciting and it would be great if record prices for these figures were broken again."

The first half of the collection was also sold at Vectis, with a single Boba Fett figure making 18,000 ($27,244).

The consignor, Craig Stevens - former president of the UK Star Wars Fan Club - explained his reasons for selling up to the BBC: "You think to yourself, 'I'm in a [rented] flat and I have got a box of figures worth as much as a house.' There's no contest, really."

Palitoy was a British company that produced the first Star Wars toys available in the UK in 1978. Boxed specimens are particularly sought after.
