'Rush' film memorabilia to auction through The Prop Store

Fans of the Formula 1 thrill-ride that is 2013's Rush will have a unique opportunity to bid on original props from the film in The Prop Store's latest auction.

The film has boosted the popularity of both James Hunt and Niki Lauda memorabilia

Opening for bids on June 23, the sale features 250 items from the film, which stars Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Bruhl as famed Formula 1 rivals James Hunt and Niki Lauda.

Leading bids is a replica of Lauda's 312T Ferrari, which is estimated at around 20,000.

Other props include the air intake from the replica of James Hunt's car, as well as a complete film car dubbed "The Mule".

The suit worn by Daniel Bruhl as the film painstakingly recreates Niki Lauda's crash and fire will also feature along with the balaclava and gloves, all of which are singed from the burn.

The film has brought new attention to the market for James Hunt and Niki Lauda memorabilia, with the helmet worn by Hunt during his World Championship winning year in 1976 selling for 37,500 ($61,380) at Bonhams in December 2013.

Hunt's 1974 Hesketh 308 Formula 1 car made €280,000 ($380,744) at RM Auctions' Monaco sale in May this year, reportedly bought by broadcaster and collector Chris Evans.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has a superb selection of Formula 1 memorabilia for sale, including items signed by Sebastian Vettel and Scottish legend Jim Clark.
