Snow White concept drawings valued at $4,500

A collection of eight concept drawings of dwarfs from Disney's Snow White will auction at Bonhams.

All date to 1935, when the film was in its early production stages.

Snow White dwarves
Walt Disney was presented with the drawings to approve them

They were produced for Walt Disney himself to personally approve and come mounted on a notebook page.

Several of the dwarfs appear almost as they do in the final film. Other characters, such as Deafy and Baldy, are included but didn't make it on to the screen.

It's expected to make around $3,500-4,500 in the major sale of animation art in New York on June 13.

The sale will feature a wealth of pieces from across Disney's long history.

Also included is a script for the pilot episode of the Flintstones that has been edited by legendary voice artist Mel Blanc.

On page 4 and 13 he has crossed out "Yahoo" and replaced it with "Yabadabadoo", showing the birth of Fred Flintstone's immortal catchphrase.

Lucy Carr, a specialist in entertainment memorabilia for Bonhams, told Yahoo News: "Collectors are always interested in the mode of production: how did the filmmakers achieve the final effect?

"This sale allows us to take a peek behind the scenes at our favorite animation studios, from the early concept drawings, scripts, and storyboards, character designs, and finally to the finished cels."

We have this copy of Walt Disney's America signed by various Disney voice artists and animators, many of who worked on Snow White.
