A Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion fan club poster produced by artist Samuel Mouse in 1966 is expected to provide the main highlight, with an estimate of up to $1.5m.

Other pieces include Jerry Garcia's Colt 25 automatic, which could make up to $25,000.

Leila Dunbar, a former director at Sotheby's told the Wall Street Journal that Dead memorabilia was "right there at the top with the Beatles, Elvis and Bob Dylan."

Mike Greenhaus, editor at Relix Magazine (a rock and roll news magazine), agreed - explaining to the publication: "The Grateful Dead scene dates back to the beginning of rock and roll art… and that art has always been one of the most valuable collector items."

A set of lyrics to the song He's Gone will also be offered, with a valuation of up to $150,000.
