Elvis Presley’s divorce papers offered at Henry Aldridge

Elvis Presley’s divorce papers annulling his marriage to Priscilla Presley will auction at Henry Aldridge Auctioneers on November 11.

Dated August 15, 1972, they reveal the details of Priscilla’s settlement from the split, including $750,000 and several cars (including a 1969 Cadillac El Dorado).

Elvis and Priscilla have both signed the documents

The papers read: "Unfortunate circumstances and unhappy differences have arisen between the parties by reason of which they have lived separate and apart since February 23, 1972, and by reason of which they intend to dissolve their marriage.

“By this property settlement the parties wish to avoid unnecessary litigation and the emotional stress and expense which would accompany."

The couple have each signed underneath.

Elvis and Priscilla first met at a party in Bad Nauheim, Germany 1959, when Elvis (already a big star) was performing his military service.

Their relationship began in 1962, when she was just 16. They married in 1967, allegedly under pressure from Priscilla’s family.

By the early 1970s their relationship was on the rocks. Both were having affairs but the divorce came as a huge blow to Elvis, triggering a reliance on increasingly powerful doses of painkillers.

The documents look set to sell for around £20,000-25,000 ($26,000-32,500).
