Jerry Garcia's Takamine guitar to auction at Nate D Sanders

A Takamine acoustic guitar belonging to Jerry Garcia is up for auction at Nate D Sanders. 

The lot is valued in excess of $20,000 ahead of the close date of July 30.

Jerry Garcia was the legendary guitarist for the Grateful Dead

Garcia gifted it to the son of Grateful Dead drummer Mickey Hart in 1993, while the band were gathered for Hart's 50th birthday at his home in Sonoma County, California.

While Garcia died in 1995, the band continued to tour and recently played a farewell show in Chicago. This increased attention is likely to have an impact on the value of the band's memorabilia.

A guitar signed by the surviving members of the Grateful Dead made $526,000 when it was sold at the farewell concert earlier this week.
