Lennon gave the glasses to his housekeeper in 1965

Lennon gave the glasses to his housekeeper, Dorothy Jarlett, in 1965 after she mentioned that her brother was attending a fancy dress party.

Paul Fairweather of Omega Auctions explained prior to the sale: "What's nice is that they also come with a really strong story. There have been glasses of Lennon's sold before but none have ever had a story as strong as this one."

We have an exciting selection of Beatles memorabilia for sale.

A set of original documents relating to the opening of Manchester's legendary Hacienda nightclub sold for £1,600 ($2,500).

The lot included the deed to the building and the plans for its design. There are signatures from founders Anthony Wilson, Alan Erasmus and Rob Gretton.

The Hacienda, which opened in 1989, was the focal point of the burgeoning dance music scene in Britain during the 1990s. An increase in gang related activity centred around the club (including several shootings inside the building) forced its closure in 1997.
