Madonna's Material Girl dress to see $40,000 with Julien's Auctions

The dress worn by Madonna in the video for Material Girl will be the centrepiece of the singer's memorabilia at Julien's Auctions' Icons & Idols sale in Beverly Hills on November 7-8.

The 1984 Marilyn Monroe-inspired outfit includes the stole and jewellery that Madonna wore, and is estimated at $20,000-40,000.

The sale also includes 30 pieces of clothing from Evita, including accessories and jewellery, with estimate ranging from $800-6,000.

It is the largest collection of Madonna memorabilia ever auctioned. She has long been a favourite of collectors, with Julien's Auctions stating: "Her rise to stardom, versatility as a film and music star, and her personal life stories remain legendary."

"She has been listed as one of the wealthiest female musicians of our time having sold over an unprecedented 300 million records."

Also included is Madonna's day planner from 1988, which includes appearances on Late Night with David Letterman and dates with her then husband Sean Penn. It is estimated at $2,000-4,000.

Among the most valuable items outside of Madonna's costumes are her awards, with a 1991 American Music Award estimated at $4,000-6,000.

An unusual highlight of the sale includes her 1972 junior high school yearbook, which is valued at $800-1,200.

Paul Fraser Collectibles has some exceptional Madonna memorabilia, each guaranteed authentic.
