The Jam memorabilia archive to make $400,000?

The collection consists of more than 500 lots, which carry a combined estimate of £300,000 ($399,603).

The sale includes Rick Buckler's 'Great White drum kit

It has been on display at Liverpool's Cunard Building as part of an exhibition on the band called About the Young Idea.

Among the highlights is Rick Buckler's iconic "Great White" drum kit, which he played in numerous TV performances and in the videos for A Town Called Malice and Funeral Pyre.

Butler owned the kit between 1980 and 1982, when the band split.

It's expected to make £30,000-50,000 ($39,948-66,580).

The Jam exploded on to the punk scene in 1977.

While just as loud and fast as their contemporaries, they were also influenced by the song writing sensibilities and mod fashion of the 1960s.

Pieces belonging to fellow members Paul Weller and Bruce Foxton will also be offered alongside posters, stage wear and test pressings - including one from Peru that refers to the band as "The Ham".

Chris Surfleet of Adam Partridge Auctioneers, which will host the sale, said: "This is an unbelievable collection and some of the lots will be dream keepsakes to fans of the band and fans of British music…

"We have EVERY RECORD PRESSING from every one of their releases, all original recording acetates, tour jackets and clothing worn by the band during their time together 78-82, including one of Weller's pin stripe suits and a Wembley dressing gown."
