1884 £1 brown-lilac stamp stands at $30,000

A rare 1884 £1 brown-lilac Great Britain postage stamp is coming to auction.

It is one of the scarcest Victorian issues, ensuring plenty of interest ahead of sale day.

Brown lilac
The stamp features its original gum - a key factor in determining value

Auctioneer Colonial Stamp Company describes it as offering a "rich fresh colour" and appearing virtually never hinged.

Featuring a three crowns watermark, its original gum, and with only slight hinge marks, bids stand at $30,000 ahead of the October 1 closing date.

We have a used 1882 Great Britain £1 brown-lilac for sale.

The sale also stars a greenish grey Great Britain 1883 10 shilling. Bids stand at $4,500.
