A pair of scissors flown on the Apollo 15 mission is selling at RR Auction.
The lot comes from the personal collection of astronaut Dave Scott and was actually carried on to the lunar surface.

As Scott, who commanded the mission, explains in a letter of provenance: "The Apollo 15 CDR surgical scissors… are from my personal collection and were used during launch, mission operations, and on the surface of the Moon during Apollo 15…
"However, the primary use of these scissors on Apollo missions was to open plastic food pouches…
"These CDR surgical scissors have been in my personal collection since returning to Earth."
Eleven pairs of these scissors were carried on to the Moon's surface during the Apollo missions and only seven are left in private hands.
The present pair is expected to bring in excess of $25,000.
Another pair of scissors carried by Apollo 12 astronaut Alan Bean sold for $100,000 at Heritage Auctions in 2011.
Also on offer is an unusually large Apollo 15-flown American flag, which is also from Scott's collection.
It's valued at more than $6,000.
Other items from Dave Scott's collection have sold for record sums in the past, including his Bulova Chronograph watch, which made $1.6m.
