The Gomz Leningrad Space Model II was designed to be used while wearing a spacesuit

Only 10-12 of the heavily modified cameras were ever created. They were used during the Soviet space programme, although it is unknown whether this particular example was ever flown.

In 2012, a Leningrad Space FAS-1 camera sold for $65,971 at Westlicht Photographica Auctions in Vienna.

A preliminary production Russian Lunar surface camera, designed for use in the Soviet Moon landing programme, is valued at £8,000-12,000 ($13,464-20,197).

The unique 35mm device was produced in the Ukrainian Defence complex between 1968 and 1969 and is stamped with the words "Top Secret".

Famously the Russians never made it to the Moon, but a handful of artefacts from that era appear on the market from time to time.

On May 7, a Soviet VA space capsule will auction in Brussels with a $1m-2m estimate.

In February, a Leica used on the Moon during the Apollo 15 mission sold for $909,084 - an increase of 236.6% on its estimate.
