Commemorative Arnold Palmer golf shoes auctioning this week

Here's your chance to own a special pair of Rickie Fowler golf shoes that commemorate Arnold Palmer.

Just two pairs of the Puma Golf Hi-Tops exist. Fowler is wearing one pair during this week's Arnold Palmer Invitational at Bay Hill, Florida.

The other is open for bidding on eBay until Sunday, with all proceeds going to Arnie's Army Charitable Foundation.

The shoes feature a collage of classic Palmer moments, beautifully crafted by 'The Shoe Surgeon' Dominic Chambrone for Puma. Palmer's signature is in evidence along the Velcro strap.

There's also a quote from Fowler under the tongue of the right shoe. It reads:

“Legends never die. You will live on forever Arnie. I will never forget the bear hug in front of the clubhouse at Augusta, watching you hit your final tee shot there, and to spending time with you in the locker room at Bay Hill. Thank you for being you and giving me the opportunity to do what I get to do everyday! I love you as did everyone! RIP The King.”

Bidding had already surpassed $10,000 by Friday morning.

Fowler commented: "I feel privileged to have known Arnie and be able to call him a friend.

"I wanted to do something to celebrate what he did on the course and more importantly how he used his platform to benefit others through his Foundation. He is the King after all."

Interest in Arnold Palmer memorabilia has increased significantly since his death last year. The Footjoys he wore when winning the 1958 Masters auctioned for $66,000 last month.
