Evel Knievel’s leather jumpsuit valued at $80,000+

One of Evel Knievel’s iconic white leather jumpsuits is set to cross the block at Heritage Auctions.

The professional daredevil is known to have worn it during a February 18, 1973 jump at the Los Angeles Coliseum and at others throughout the 1970s.

Evel Knievel jumpsuit

Evel Knievel wore this jumpsuit during the early 1970s

Knievel’s attempts to leap enormous distances with the aid of just a ramp and a motorbike kept the world on the edge of its seat during the 1970s and 1980s.

While he often made it, he failed spectacularly on several occasions.

These crashes left him with injuries that would probably have been career-ending for anyone else.

The suit is valued in excess of $80,000.

A Knievel jumpsuit featuring a different pattern auctioned for $40,000 in 2012.

Knievel’s diamond studded cane, which he needed to walk after breaking pretty much every bone in his body, is also featured in the February 24-25 sale.

It features a secret compartment housing a whisky flask, a function Knievel revealed on a 1973 edition of the Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.

It’s offered with an estimate of $20,000+.

The auction house comments: "Ask any man in America over the age of forty the identity of the greatest daredevil that ever lived, and there is invariably only a single answer.

“It was Knievel's determination and imagination that truly set him apart as a one of a kind legend that has never been rivaled."
