Joey Dunlop's 1998 TT outfit to headline sports memorabilia sale

Isle of Man racer Joey Dunlop's 1998 Lightweight TT outfit could make £15,000-20,000 ($24,213-32,285) at Graham Budd Auctions' London sale of sporting memorabilia on November 4.

Dunlop's 1998 victory is widely regarded as one of the greatest of his 26 wins on the Isle of Man circuit.

The race was reduced to three laps due to dangerous weather conditions, but Dunlop managed to complete the first at an average speed of 100mph - leading by over half a minute.

Dunlop was killed in 2000 during a race in Tallinn, Estonia. His funeral in Northern Ireland was attended by over 50,000 mourners.

In 2008, the Honda RS1000 he raced in the TT and F1 World Championship during the 1980s sold for £75,000 ($121,049).

The first Olympic medal to ever be awarded to a woman for track cycling will feature with an estimate of £9,000-12,000 ($14,528-19,369).

The medal was awarded in Seoul, 1988 to Erika Salumae - who represented the Soviet Union. Salumae was the first gold medal winner from Estonia and broke 16 world records over the course of her career.

She also dominated the Soviet national championships, winning 16 times, and won the World Championships twice.

The current world record price for an Olympic gold medal is $310,700, achieved in 2010 by a medal presented to Mark Wells - a member of the 1980 "miracle on ice" US hockey team, made up of amateur and college league players, who beat the much-vaunted Soviet Union.
