Usain Bolt Olympic track marker valued at $20,000

The number 7 track marker from the lane Usain Bolt raced in during the 100m and 200m finals of the 2012 Olympics is selling at Graham Budd Auctions.

The lot is set to headline an auction featuring pieces of the athletics track from the London Games on August 21.

Usain Bolt 7
Usain Bolt achieved a time of 9.63 seconds in the 100 metres

It's valued at £10,000-15,000 ($13,065-19,597).

Bolt won the 100 metres in 9.63 seconds.

This makes him the first sprinter since Carl Lewis in 1988 to hold on to his title in the event.

Unsurprisingly he's considered the greatest runner of his generation and will be aiming to pick up three more golds at this year's Games in Rio.

If successful, he would be the first athlete to pull off this feat three times in a row.

A large strip of the track printed "LONDON 2012" is valued at £5,000-7,000 ($6,528-9,139).

The segment was one of two laid down by the medal podium, meaning it was walked on by most of the winning athletes.

However, at 19 metres long and 3.8 metres high, the buyer is going to need a very large space to display it.

The text is printed in the typeface that Gareth Hague designed for the event, making both lots recognisable pieces of Olympic history.
