Estee Lauder's jewels come to Sotheby's following record sale

Sotheby's will offer more jewels from the collection of Estee and Evelyn Lauder in New York on December 9, following a record sale in 2012.

Cartier Tutti Frutti bracelet
Cartier's Tutti Frutti is one of the most famous jewellery lines ever made

The first auction saw the highest total Sotheby's has ever seen for a day of jewellery sales, with a total of $64.8m crossing the block.

The upcoming auction is being held to raise money for charity, with 33 pieces from Evelyn Lauder's collection benefitting the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, which she founded, while a further 11 pieces from Estee Lauder will be sold for Alzheimer's Drug Discover Foundatio.

The top bids are expected to go to one of Cartier's iconic Tutti Frutti bracelet, which is expected to sell for between $750,000-1m. Introduced in 1928, it is made of platinum and set with brilliant and single cut diamonds, emeralds, onyx and rubies.

The Tutti Frutti bracelets usually contain sapphires, but the absence of the stones in this piece suggests it may have been a special commission.

Also starring is a pair of platinum, diamond and mystery-set colours stone pendant earclips, which come with two pairs of interchangeable pendants, one of sapphires and one of rubies. They are expected to see $200,000-300,000.
