As we've mentioned, collectors of fine jewellery and movie memorabilia will both be looking forward eagerly to December as one of the greatest collections ever of its kind, that belonging to Elizabeth Taylor will be offered at Christie's.
At the same time, Profiles in History will be offering the wedding ring of Taylor's shorter-lived contemporary Marilyn Monroe. This was from her passionate, but doomed, nuptials with baseball star Joe DiMaggio.
However collectors who can't wait that long, or who simply favour notoriety over iconic status, might want to take a look at Christie's Magnificent Jewels sale in New York on October 18.
Although it's not marked out as such in the catalogue, one of the diamond rings offered in the auction (almost certainly lot 4) is believed to be the engagement ring of one Crystal Harris. Celebrity news website TMZ is sure of it.
Harris is an American glamour model, singer, and television personality. She was the Playboy Playmate of the Month for December 2009. However, she is most famous for who she was engaged to: the Playboy Mansion's own Hugh Hefner.
The 64 year old Hefner became engaged to the then 24 year old Harris on Christmas Eve 2010, but it was broken off on June 14, 2011.
This was so close to the actual wedding (under a week) that many people received copies of Playboy with Ms Harris on the cover with the text 'Introducing Mrs Crystal Hefner' emblazoned across it.
The circular-cut diamond main diamond in the ring weighs approximately 3.39 carats and is fixed in a circular-cut diamond hoop, mounted in platinum. It is listed at $20,000-30,000.
It is likely to draw a fair amount of interest and probably sell for more than that listing, though whether it has any long term memorabilia value is anybody's guess.
Collectors interested in playboy memorabilia but feeling that this particular piece is a little sordid will be pleased to hear that we have an original London Playboy bunny costume available - and what's more it qualifies for our fantastic 120% guarantee.
