Piaget watch brings $3,315 - but you can get a Longines for half the price

A quick look at the rare jewellery collectibles markets reveals this 1.48 carat solitaire diamond ring "of good quality". It was one of 450-plus jewellery lots which auctioned in Manchester, UK, last week (February 7).

In the end, the coveted ring brought £4,600.

It auctioned alongside a Bruckmann table service of German sterling silver. The lot included 120 silverware pieces in all, equal to cutlery for 12 persons. The set brought £2,600.

Overall, the Manchester jewellery auction netted an impressive £69,000 in sales.

Also auctioned was a ladies' Piaget 'Tangara' 18ct gold wristlet watch which sold for £2,100 (approximately $3,315).
