Rolex auction record broken twice in same auction

Phillips' vintage watch auction in Geneva broke the record for the most valuable Rolex twice in the same sale.

Rolex world record
This 4113 split-seconds-chronograph is the most valuable Rolex ever sold at auction

A 1942 Rolex reference 4113 split-seconds chronograph made $2.4m, edging out the $2m set by a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona 'Paul Newman' a few minutes earlier in the May 15 sale.

Sam Hines, Phillips' head of watches, said: "The market showed great appetite for the finest and most original watches".
