Why Friday 13 could prove very lucky for watches and jewellery collectors

This Friday August 13, Weller's auctioneers are holding their regular "Jewellery, Watches, Silver & Metal ware Auction."

Wellers have been giving valuations and conducting auctions since 1866, and Friday's sale will take place in their famous Victorian Saleroom in Chertsey, Surrey.

Featuring 902 fine pieces, the sale has the potential to offer serious collectors some fantastic opportunities to invest in classical timepieces and fine jewellery.

Amongst the collection of rare watches up for auction, will be a classic Rolex Datejust.

The famous self winding chronometer wristwatch features a date function and comes with 36mm oyster bracelet.

With a bi-colour design featuring diamond dot dial, this men's watch currently carries a pre auction estimated price of £1,200-1,500 ($1,800-2,250) and could prove to be one of the buys of the event.

Alternative, the sale will also feature the vintage Cartier Tank Francais.

Originally created by Louis Cartier in 1917, the shape of the design was inspired by the new Renault tanks which he had witnessed on the Western Front of World war.

The lines and proportions of this 1996 Francais version give the watch a rectangular design with the straps concealed under vertical sidepieces.

More importantly, the watch face features blue, sword shaped hands and silvered opaline guilloche dials alongside diamond set shoulders for a truly stunning look.

Carrying an estimated price of £2,300 to £3,300 ($3,450-4,950) this jewellery watch will prove popular at Friday's sale.

And for those collectors on the lookout for fine jewellery, Weller's auction offers some interesting opportunities.

An exquisite emerald cut and round brilliant cut diamond cluster ring is could get hearts racing at the auction.

Set into fine 18 carat white gold, the ring carries an estimated price of £2,400 - 2,800 ($3,600-4,200) but could fetch even more.

In addition to this, the event will also feature a baguette and round, brilliant cut suite of fine jewellery.
