1961 de Vogue Musigny could be toast of Acker's New York fine wine auction

Appearances sometimes to the contrary, Don Stott does not own all of the world's great Burgundy, and Acker, Merrall and Condit which has been handling some of his collection are offering some choice hoards to prove it.

A selection offered under the heading 'Cheerio/The juicy bits' delivers some remarkable lots.

Consider a 12-bottle case of 1961 de Vogue Musigny V.V. ( Lot 243, $18,000-$24,000) together with a treasure trove of old Faiveley, including two cases of 1955 Faiveley Musigny (Lots 250 and 251, $15,000-$20,000 each); two cases of 1959 Faiveley Musigny (Lots 252 and 253, $20,000-$30,000 each); and two cases of 1959 Faiveley Cortons Clos des Cortons (Lots 247 and 248, $8,000-$12,000).

Then there is the irresistible mystery of a 1919 Bouchard Musigny (Lot 241, $800-1,200), But there's plenty for the more modern palate, too, including six magnums of 2005 G. Roumier Bonnes Mares (Lot 256, $10,000-$14,000); six bottles of 1999 G. Roumier Musigny (Lot 258, $12,000-$16,000); and three magnums of the same glorious wine -- 1999 G. Roumier Musigny (Lot 259, $14,000-$18,000).

If it's Bordeaux magnums you require, these should both slake your thirst and deepen your cellar: two magnums of 1945 Gruaud Larose (Lot 237, $4,000-$6,000) and six magnums of the perfect 1982 Pichon Lalande (Lot 239, $6,000-$8,000) are on offer.

Following that is another collection, among the delights of which on offer are: six magnums of 1990 Vogue Musigny V.V. (Lot 196, $7,000-$9,000); a ten-magnum lot (yes, ten) of 1995, 1996, and 1997 Vogue Musigny V.V. (Lot 197, $7,500-$10,000).

Finally there are six pristine bottles of the ineffable 1980 H. Jayer Vosne Romanee Cros Parantoux (Lot 206, $9,000-$12,000); and, to cleanse your palate before or after this raft of glorious reds, two bottles of 1981 DRC Montrachet (Lot 212, $1,400-$2,000).

Watch this space for the results of this auction, which takes place on October 29 in New York City.
