Wines from the DRC estate remain popular at auction

John Kapon, CEO of Acker, is confident that Burgundy will continue to command impressive figures at auction in 2014 - telling local newspaper the South China Morning Post: "In 2013, Bordeaux was 40 per cent of our dollars and 35 per cent of our bottles sold, while Burgundy was 35 per cent of dollars and 15 per cent of bottles, meaning people are paying more for Burgundy".

Wine sales in Hong Kong fell behind the US for the first time since 2010 last year, with takings in the region dipping by 25.8%.

Meanwhile, a sale at Sotheby's on the 18th saw a Macallan M Decanter achieve a new world record for whisky at auction.
