Bonhams concludes a great month for fine wine with an offer of Lafite 1982

With two world records marked at auction the past week (Acker achieving a $211,000 World Record price for 1978 Henri Jayer Richebourg wine and Chris de Burgh's 62 magnum lot of Mouton-Rothschild bringing over $250,000), now seems to be a particularly good time to offer fine wines.

So Bonhams' Fine & Rare Wines sale, which is taking place tomorrow, should be well set to produce some exceptional results.

At first glance, there do not appear to be any likely world record-setters, but there are some excellent opportunities for fine wine collectors and investors which don't come every day.

There are 700 lots on offer with the last 50 being made up of fine port and brandy. But the overall highlights come from that famed Bordeaux vineyard of Chateau Lafite-Rothschild:

There are two 12-bottle lots late in the day of Lafite 2003. Each of the Pauillac Premier Grand Cru Classe is expected to bring £10,000 to 13,000 ($20,800) for the sets of the great vintage, housed in their original wooden cases.

Better still is a lot of just six bottles of Lafite 1982, with minor damage to their labels and capsules but with nice high levels inside. The set is expected to bring £15,000 - 18,000 ($28,800) when it goes under the hammer in London.

Given the great results for the 1982 at Hart Davis Hart's recent Lafite auction, this is the lot to watch.
