Collectors can bid online for the 'legendary' 2000 Chateau Petrus

Château Pétrus is described by some experts as 'the most celebrated' wine of France's Pomerol region, near Bordeaux - and collectors have a chance to own two of the Château's best vintages at Artcurial's sale, tomorrow (July 7).

Firstly, six bottles of the region's legendary 2000 vintage, encased in their original wooden box, will appear at the Paris auction with a pre-sale estimate of €10,800-€11,100.

Described by one expert as "still the pre-eminent expression of Merlot by which all others must be measured," the 2000 Château Pétrus was awarded a full 100 points by the eminent critic Robert Parker, and 98 points by Wine Spectator.

The coveted lot will auction alongside another half-a-dozen bottles of the 1998, priced at a slightly more modest €7,800-€8,100.

Beside these two top vintages, collectors can also get their hands on six bottles of the 1990 vintage, which are appearing at Artcurial with an estimate of €9,600-€9,900.

Artcurial's sale will be held in Paris, France, but collectors around the globe can also place bids online.
