DRC and Henri-Jayer wines highlight Sotheby's

Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and two bottles of 1985 Henri-Jayer were among the highlights at the Finest and Rarest Wines & Vintage Port auction held at Sotheby's.

The sale took place yesterday (March 17).

Both of the 1985 vintages sold above their estimates - most impressively Lot 71, which auctioned with a price of £10,000-14,000.

From Côte de Nuits, the northern Cote D'Or region famed for its red Pinot Noir, it eventually sold for an amazing £19,550.

Another 1985, Lot 70, exceeding its £5,000-7,000 to bring £8,625.

As we previously reported, a fine selection of Domaine de la Romanee-Conti (DRC) wines also featured in the sale, estimated at £15,000-20,000.

Featuring the Romanée Conti, La Tache, Romanee St Vivant and other bottles, the assortment brought £20,700.

Another Domaine de la Romanée Conti, 1990 vintage, sold for a staggering $78,000 at Christie's, last month.
