Glenfiddich 50-year-old whisky sells for $1,500 a dram

If you've ever wondered what a $30,000 bottle of whisky tastes like, without spending $30,000, here's your chance.

For $1,500 a time, San Antonio's Bar 1919 is offering the chance to sample a dram of Glenfiddich's 50 Year Old Single Malt Whisky on September 4.

Just 50 of the bottles have been produced each year from 2009. The run will end in 2018.

The evening will also include a five course meal and the opportunity to sample a number of other fine whiskies.

The current whisky auction record is held by another Glenfiddich; one of just 15 bottles of Janet Sheed Roberts auctioned for $94,000 (£59,350) in March 2012.
