Description
India 1874 9p bright mauve, COMPLETE SHEET OF 320, comprising four panes of 80 (8x10) separated by vertical gutters with arabesques and horizontal gutters with inscriptions, each pane having marginal inscriptions on three sides, while the whole sheet has a continuous external inscription, including plate numbers '8' at NW and SE corners, and current numbers '174' at NE and SW.
Folded, with some inevitable light creases and small tones and separation, but overall fresh and fine unmounted original gum with lovely colour. A very rare and remarkable survival in this intact form, and the first such 'East India' sheet of 320 (any value) that we have ever handled. (SG catalogue price: £8,000+) Unmounted Mint. SG 77
