Aston Martin DB7 Volante cruises to nearly £28,000 at Barons

Two very different but equally elegant cars topped the results at Barons' UK sale of classic and collectors' cars at Sandown Park, on July 27.

The 1999 Aston Martin DB7 Volante - one of just 150 examples of the 'Dunhill' model produced - sold for a whisper under £28,000.

classic, the 1999 Aston Martin DB7 Volante

Meanwhile, the remarkably original, barn-stored 1933 Rolls-Royce 20/25 Sedanca de Ville - billed as "a very sound rolling restoration" - achieved £23,479.

It was a lively sale with over 60% of the lots finding buyers. Some cars made very good money, including the 1965 MKX Jaguar, which was a late entry, bringing £14,092.

Appreciating investments: the 1965 MKX Jaguar (top); and the
increasingly collectible Jaguar S3 Saloon

Elsewhere, the 1966 Mustang made the same as it did when Barons auctioned it a few years back, realising £13,142.

Also auctioned were a number of Jaguar S3 Saloons, the results of which demonstrate that this model is beginning to appreciate as an investment, among them the 1986 Jaguar S3 Sovereign 4.2 Saloon (£6,046) and 1984 Jaguar S3 Sovereign 4.2 saloon (£3,587).
