The race suits of the six Formula One world champions competing in 2012 are to be sold on December 3 at Bonhams' Collectors Motor Cars and Automobilia auction in Surrey, UK.

The suits, donated personally by the drivers, will raise money for Wings for Life, a spinal cord injury research charity. Each driver has also included an additional item, such as a signed photograph or another element of their racing equipment.
The charity has previously worked with Red Bull Racing's Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber, who drove cars plastered with photographs from the public at this year's British Grand Prix in another effort to raise funds. Vettel, who has been an ambassador of the organisation for many years, told the Telegraph newspaper: "I'm proud to have donated my race suit and gloves during the first race of this season in Melbourne."
British driver Jenson Button also commented: "I'm sure that for collectors of Formula One memorabilia, this is a truly unique opportunity. Every championship winning driver has chipped in to create quite a collection."
Included in the sale are suits from Jenson Button, Lewis Hamilton, Michael Schumacher, Sebastian Vettel, Fernando Alonso and Kimi Raikonnen. Also featuring at the auction will be the speedboat that David Beckham famously piloted at the London 2012 Olympics and a fully functioning WWII Hurricane fighter plane.
