Tupac Shakur's 1996 Hummer leads memorabilia sale

A 1996 American Motors Hummer H1 belonging to rapper Tupac Shakur realised $275,220 on April 19.

The lot led RR Auction's Marvels of Modern Music online sale.

Tupac Hummer RR
This Hummer was the last vehicle Tupac bought before he was murdered

The enormous vehicle includes a range of modifications suited to the gangsta rap lifestyle, including a roof mounted spotlight and an external PA system wired with three different sirens.

Tupac was killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles on September 7, 1996.

His assailants have never been identified, although rumours linking his east coast rival Biggie Smalls to the shooting have circulated for years.

Biggie was killed in a near identical fashion around six months later.

The auction house comments: "Research on the vehicle reveals that Shakur purchased the vehicle on August 16, 1996, a little less than a month before his untimely death, a revelation which comfortably attributes this Hummer H1 as the very last vehicle the rapper would purchase in his lifetime."

The last document signed by all four members of the Beatles sold for $58,954.

It relates to the sale of 3 Savile Row, headquarters of the band's Apple Records label, on November 8, 1980.

One month later John Lennon was shot dead outside his home in New York.

We have this copy of the Beatles' A Hard Day's Night signed by the whole band.
