A rare Chinese brush dish from the rule of the renowned Qianlong emperor will provide one of the highlights at Lyon & Turnbull's Asian Antiques auction on 12 June in Edinburgh.

Qianlong brush dish Chinese
The brush dish is related to the famous black jade wine bowl that was considered one of the treasures of the Mongol court

The impressive brush dish, which is carved from pale celadon jade and bears the Qianlong imperial seals, is expected to sell for £150,000-250,000 (£233,313-388,855).

The piece is decorated with the "dragon amongst clouds" motif, which is found on similar imperial wares and is related to the famous "black jade" wine bowl, which is housed in the Round Fort in Beijing and considered one of the wonders of the Mongol court.

The auction follows the sale last week of a spectacular zitan wood cabinet from the Qianlong emperor's palace, which saw the world record for any item of Chinese furniture at an auction in Beijing.
