A CGC 9.4-graded copy of DC’s All Star Comics #8 (1941), featuring the first ever appearance of Wonder Woman, is to auction on eBay this month.
It will be sold alongside Sensation Comics #1 (CGC 9.6) and Wonder Woman #1 (CGC 9.0), both of which feature the classic character.
All Star Comics #8 features the first appearance of Wonder Woman
Wonder Woman was the first female superhero and the first to be given her own comic book series.
“All three books in this auction are the highest-graded copies ever found," says eBay.
“More-perfect examples do not exist on Earth or among the stars.”
That puts all three on track to set records at auction.
All Star Comics #8 is poised to take the top spot. The record for the issue is $81,000, which is fairly low in comparison to high quality origin issues for other second-tier superheroes.
For example, a copy of All American Comics #16, which features the first appearance of the Green Lantern, realised $203,000.
The record for Thor's origin issue, Journey into Mystery #83, stands at $217,000.
While there’s no estimate available for any of three, we're predicting All Star Comics #8 to achieve at least $200,000.
The result may also be boosted by the huge success of the recent Wonder Woman movie.
Some of the proceeds from the sale will go to Trafficking Hope, an organisation that aims to eradicate sex trafficking worldwide.
