American author Truman Capote's original 1958 manuscript of his hit novella Breakfast at Tiffany's is to cross the block at RR Auction on April 25.
Estimated to be worth $250,000, the manuscript contains Capote's handwritten annotations, the most important of which evidences the author's decision to change the name of his female protagonist from Connie Gustafson to Holly Golightly.

Although the serialisation rights to the manuscript were originally bought by Harpers Bazaar for $2,000, the American magazine went on to sell the rights to Esquire magazine, thinking the novella's contents too risque for print-publication.
Esquire subsequently launched Capote's novella to its 1961 silver screen adaptation, which starred Audrey Hepburn as the skittish Golightly.
The remarkable manuscript is rumoured to be offered from the estate of a very famous Madison Avenue autograph collector.
The highly anticipated online auction also boasts a rare signed Beatles album, as well as James Dean, Humphrey Bogart and Clark Gable memorabilia.
