Sotheby's December 2 sale of Fine Books and Manuscripts will celebrate the works of American poet Walt Whitman, with an advertisement for Leaves of Grass announced as an early highlight.

The advertising broadside was designed by Whitman himself and is printed on linen. Intended for use in bookstores, it is valued at $7,000-10,000.
The New York sale has a special emphasis on Walt Whitman, with further lots due to be revealed. It will also feature the David R Macdonald Collection, as well as an unrecorded draft of President Lincoln's April 1865 letter to General Grant regarding the end of the civil war, just nine days before he was killed.
