1930 Bentley speed six tourer to make 1.3m?

A 1930 Bentley speed six tourer is among the headline lots at Bonhams' Goodwood sale in London on June 27, valued at £680,000-780,000 ($1.1m-1.3m).

Bentley's six-speed model proved a powerful racing opponent on the track, winning the Le Mans 24 Hours in 1929 and the Grand Prix d'Endurance at Sarthe a year later.

A journalist for the Autocar, an early motoring magazine, wrote in 1930: "It is extraordinarily difficult to explain in words or writing the exact fascination of a big, fast car of the type so ably represented by the big Bentley speed model."

A 1929 Bentley 4½-litre sports Bluebell is another highlight, estimated at £480,000-560,000 ($806,880-941,360).

The car has a strong racing pedigree, with over 70 years of competition under its belt.

A 1987 Nissan R87E Group C sports prototype will also appeal to motorsport fans.

The Group C racing class ran for just over 10 years between 1982 and 1993. The rules set a cap on fuel consumption, with the result that designers were forced to get creative rather than simply increase horsepower.

The sale will also feature the one of a kind Aston Martin Atom (which will auction without an estimate), a Ferrari 375-Plus valued at £10m ($16.6m) and an Aston Martin Ulster that could make up to £1.6m ($2.6m).

We have this racing jacket owned by Hollywood legend Paul Newman for sale.
