1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona valued at up to $1m at Mecum

A 1969 Dodge Hemi Daytona is to lead Mecum's Kissimmee auction in Florida on January 16-25 with an $800,000-1m estimate.

The lot has the lowest mileage of any known Daytona, making it a hugely attractive proposition for collectors.

In 1988, Dodge specialist Roger Gibson carried out an extensive renovation on the lot.

He went on to comment: "In my opinion this car is the best example of a 4-Speed Hemi Daytona in existence. It was not a typical restoration; it didn't need very much.

"When it came in it showed 5,977 miles… It led a very sheltered life that contributed to its stunning condition."

Also on offer is a 1971 Dodge Hemi Charger, which is valued at $450,000-550,000.

The lot has belonged to a string of high profile owners, including NFL linebacker Kevin Green and action hero/all round Renaissance man Steven Segal.

Mecum comment: "This 1971 Dodge Hemi Charger R/T from the Wellborn Musclecar Museum is literally unlike any other.

"Not only is it one of only 63 built that year with the mighty 426/425 HP Hemi engine in its final year of production; it is also one of very few equipped with the rare code M51 power sunroof option.

"That is but one item in a list of features that qualify it as the most highly optioned 1971 Hemi Charger R/T known to exist."
