James Bond's Aston Martin DB5 returns in Daniel Craig-starring 'Skyfall'

It's back, possibly the most iconic car in film history... James Bond's classic Aston Martin DB5 car, is set to appear in 007's next Daniel Craig-starring adventure, Skyfall.

That isn't remarkable in itself - the DB5 has appeared in various modern Bond adventures including Casino Royale and Tomorrow Never Dies in more recent years. Yet this is the first time since the movie franchise's vintage 1960s era that the car will appear in a chase equipped with pop-out guns.

Collectors had a chance to get a closer look at Sean Connery-era Bond's gadgets when another weapon-laded 1964 DB5 appeared in 2010's Automobiles of London auction. In the end, the DB5 sold for £2,912,000. Q would most definitely have been proud.

That car was the only known remaining example of the two DB5s which appeared on-screen in Goldfinger and Thunderball. Although the car's number plate read "FMP 7B" at the London auction, this was covered with a "BMT 216A" licence plate when it appeared onscreen in Goldfinger.

For the sake of nostalgia, the Skyfall DB5 will also sport the "BMT 216A" number plate when Daniel Craig takes to the wheel.

Meanwhile, you can currently see a number of Bond vehicles at the UK Bond In Motion exhibition - we chatted to Bond classic car expert David Worrall about the event here.
