It's valued at $180,000-220,000 ahead of the Stack's Bowers sale on May 25 in New York.
Prior to the introduction of a native US currency, various foreign denominations were in circulation.
Brasher was a New York based assayer and worked to authenticate the gold or silver content. If satisfied, he stamped it with his initials.
He is best known as the creator of the Brasher doubloon, the first gold coin produced in the US. Brasher minted it himself in small numbers. One sold for $7.3m in 2011.
