JFK's White House telephone among highlights at Profiles in History

A portable White House telephone used by JFK during his presidency is likely to prove one of the highlights of Profiles in History's Los Angeles auction with an estimate of $40,000-60,000.

The phone was installed in a range of locations, including Bing Crosby's home in Palm Springs, where Kennedy holidayed in March and December 1962.

It is likely the president used it to discuss the terms of the controversial Nassau agreement, ratified on December 22, which provided the UK with Polaris missiles.

The lot is sold along with a "Directory of Dial Code System Lines, The White House Office Switchboard" manual featuring notes from Kennedy's secretary.

Also featured in the June 13 auction are a pair of letters written by Albert Einstein in 1938, estimated at $60,000-80,000.

We have this original poster from JFK's 1960 presidential campaign for sale.
