Scott Terra Nova notebook found at Antarctic base

New Zealand's Antarctic Heritage Trust has discovered a never before seen notebook at Captain Scott's Terra Nova base at Cape Evans.

The find belonged to George Murray Levick, zoologist and surgeon for the ill-fated expedition, and is titled (sic) "Wellcome Photographic Exposure Record and Dairy 1910".

Levick notebook Scott
Levick was the Terra Nova expedition's (1910-1912) surgeon and zoologist

It features details and exposure times of photographs taken while the team wintered on nearby Cape Adare.

Nigel Watson, the trust's executive director, commented: "It's an exciting find. The notebook is a missing part of the official expedition record. After spending seven years conserving Scott's last expedition building and collection, we are delighted to still be finding new artefacts".

A letter by Scott, written shortly before he froze to death, sold for ?163,250 ($261,050) in a 2012 auction at Bonhams.
