2005 Maserati MC 12 headlines at RM Sotheby’s

RM Sotheby’s February 7 auction in Paris will feature a 2005 Maserati MC 12.

The car was created in partnership with Ferrari for entry into the FIA GT Championship.

It’s built on the bones of the 2002 Ferrari Enzo. The chassis and internal components are largely identical, but the shape is very different.

Only 50 were made, 25 in 2004 and the remainder in 2005.

RM Sotheby’s comments: “With only 50 examples produced, the MC12 is without question the rarest and most desirable Maserati produced thus far into the 21st century, offering world-beating performance befitting of one of the most illustrious names in the Italian automotive industry.

“Driven regularly and always serviced on a regular basis, this would be an excellent example for the enthusiast looking to get behind the wheel of one of the greatest cars to wear the Maserati badge, and one that has already become widely recognized as a truly iconic automobile.”

It’s valued at $2.3m-2.9m.

There’s also a 1958 BMW 507 roadster series II that comes with an estimate of $1.8m-2.1m.

The car has been lovingly cared for over the years. In fact, the same mechanic who worked on it in the 60s carried out its most recent tune-up.

Demand for classic BMWs is on the increase, as buyers priced out of the market for classic sports cars seek alternatives.
