Harry Potter Elder Wand up 102% on estimate with Premiere Props

The Elder Wand prop used in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows has topped Premiere Props' latest auction, held on November 23-24 in California.

The wand is a key element to the plot of the final Harry Potter film, and this was reflected in its 102% increase on the $5,000 high estimate to sell for $10,100.

The resin wand was used by Ralph Fiennes as Lord Voldemort in both Part 1 (2010) and Part 2 (2011) of the film. The longest of all the props used to represent the Elder Wand, this was acquired directly from a cast member. It is accompanied by a letter of authenticity explaining its origin.

Nightmare Before Christmas sleigh

Also featuring in the auction was Jack Skellington's Santa sleigh from Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993), which sold for $9,500. The sled, measuring 14 by 6 inches, is seen prominently during the sequence when Santa Jack is shot down out of the sky, and has been painstaking created to show signs of the subsequent crash.

Godfather horse head
The prop was replaced at the last minute with a real severed horse head



Following at $7,000 was the original severed horse head that was intended for Marlon Brando's Don Corleone to have placed in the bed of Jack Woltz in The Godfather (1972). A convincing prop, it was nonetheless replaced with a real horse's head by Francis Ford Coppola at the last minute.
