Al Pacino's grenade launcher from Scarface has topped an auction of film memorabilia.
The prop M203, which Pacino famously brandishes in the 1983 film while declaring "say hello to my little friend", sold for $54,400 on the weekend.

It last sold in 2010 for $25,000. The fact it has more than doubled in value in five years is a clear indication of the money-making potential of the most iconic film props.
The item starred at Julien's Auctions' Golden Closet sale in Los Angeles on November 20, which featured memorabilia from the history of Hollywood.
Built by the film's prop maker, it was attached to a replica Colt AR15 identical to the live firing prop also employed in the film.
The launcher also appears in 1987 sci-fi action movie Predator, where Arnold Schwarzenegger's character Dutch uses it to clear a jungle of vegetation.
Elsewhere in the same sale, Rudolph Valentino's Suit of Lights from Blood and Sand made $51,200, while Schwarzenegger's handgun from The Terminator achieved $34,375.
Despite appearing in a film routinely voted the best ever, a suit worn by Orson Welles in Citizen Kane made a comparatively modest $25,600.
This price is evidence that movie collectors are looking for pieces with immediate eye appeal. While the suit's connection to "Kane" is impressive, it lacks the visual wow factor of Pacino's grenade launcher or Schwarzenegger's handgun.
