A collection of over 100 rare vintage NASA photographs are heading to Shanghai for an exhibition, in the wake of China's first landing on the Moon.

With interest in space exploration at an all-time high in China and rapid expansion in collecting across the country, the space memorabilia market is about to take off

The photos will be shown at Photo Shanghai, one of the country's largest photography events, and have been brought to China by London gallery Breese Little, who previously exhibited them in London in January 2014.

The exhibition focuses on historical firsts, with the presentation tracking some of the greatest developments in space history, including China's momentous Jade Rabbit landing last year - the first soft-landing on the lunar surface since 1976.

"I'm particularly excited about showing this work in Shanghai as the Chinese have been rapidly developing their space programme over the past decade; they put a rover on the moon at the end of last year and are planning manned expeditions to the moon and Mars," commented Breese Little co-director Henry Little in an interview with Photo Shanghai.

"It's going to be exciting to see how interest in this kind of material fares as the capability for space travel shifts to developing countries. As an art gallery we're very aware of the emerging markets, and China is currently undergoing a massive expansion in private galleries being built across the country."

Paul Fraser Collectibles has some exceptional items of space memorabilia for sale.
